Dr Nagarajan is presently a Director, Hepatobiliary Pancreatic and Gastrointestinal Oncology at the Nanavati Max Institute of Cancer Care, Nanavati Max superspeciality Hospital Mumbai. Prior to this, he was a senior consultant – HPB and gastrointestinal surgical oncology at PD Hinduja National Hospital for almost a decade.

Over the last decade, Dr Nagarajan and his team have performed more than two thousand complex supramajor surgeries for the above-mentioned cancers. He has consulted more than 15000 patients of GI and HPB cancers from various parts of India and abroad and advised and counseled them on the best course of action.

He is widely acclaimed for his expertise in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery and often takes on the challenge of operating extremely complex cases with vascular reconstructions which are not routinely performed in many centres. Inspite of these being long and tedious operations, the success rates and survivals are on par with the best centres across the world. He and his team are hence a tertiary referral centre for these cancers For gastrointestinal and colorectal cancers, Dr Nagarajan and his team routinely perform robotic and /or laparoscopic surgeries whenever suitable. This enhances the pace of recovery and the patients are back home much faster. The focus is always on complete and radical removal of the cancer since a good surgery gives the patient the best chance at cure.
